I remember my Grandma leaving the house key under the mat for myself and others when I was a kid, just the same as all of the other local houses were doing.
I bet you could walk down a street and find 12 keys under 12 mats, and if you were a house robber you could just walk into homes using their own keys to shop away.
My mom does the same thing, even though she is a bit lazier, she just leaves the house keys right on the ground outside the door in plain sight. Pretty funny. So today is Thursday and my pal Jimmy and I will play tunes outside this local corporation later on before sunset, then after sunset Jimmy and I will go sit beside this gas furnace in this quiet eating establishment and eat our dinner while Jimmy and I talk about our show my pal and I just did. Jimmy and I are still trying to find our sound, which varies from show to show, but Jimmy and I are having fun in the process and making a little bit of money. My mom is in the Heating and Air Conditioning industry, and when I do a show she asks the same thing – did you make a lot of money? She doesn’t quite understand how it works for an artist, as she has been working for the heating and cooling systems world for so long that she is out of the loop of why a tunesmith does what they do. I just love playing tunes, and while it is nice to gain a little money too, that is not why we do it. Maybe a single day, playing in air conditioned clubs and ski resorts with furnaces keeping us comfy, Jimmy and I will get paid a nice chunk of money doing what we love.
