John is sure glad that’s over. Had he any sort of actual conception of what this sort of winter weather would be like, he might have said thanks but no thanks to this task. His life has been lived far south of the Mason-Dixon line. John grew up way down south and never knew anything but mild winter hot and cold temperatures that essentially allowed the heat pump a three month rest. But then again, those heat pumps needed it given the tremendous amount of AC that comes with living down there. He went to college down south and took a task not an hour and a half from where he grew up. That office was the best because it entirely had zone controlled HVAC. John only had a cubicle back then but it was so cool to be able to adjust his thermostat in his end of the office. The direct sun heating could certainly mess up an afternoon without being able to adjust the air conditioner. John worked in that building for almost 12 years before he was provided a big promotion. That promotion came with the move to the northern regions of this country. And he means north. The winter here lasts basically six months. There is no zone controlled HVAC in this office. But he has an actual office with walls now so he brought in a space heater just to get by this winter. John keeps that space heater right under his desk. However, it’s the modern gas furnace in his household that has really saved his bacon this Winter. As cold as it was for month after month after month, John was warm inside his dwelling thanks to the heating from the gas furnace.
