My brother Mike rarely calls me at the office so I knew that something was important.
I was pretty sure our mom was okay since he had texted me good morning earlier.
This is about my mom. I am 50 years old plus she is 75 however he still likes to say good morning every, single day. Honestly, I still kind of dig it. But working inside the zone controlled HVAC of my office answering a call from my brother Mike made me start to sweat and stress. Thankfully, everyone was fine. Mike lives not too far from my mom while I live nearly a thousand miles away. The nature of the call was to address the ongoing heating plus cooling situation at mom’s. She is still in the little house that he moved to after Mike plus I went off to university. It’s a small, 2 living room with central air conditioner. But the HVAC components are at least 30 years old. I had tried before to get her to let me replace the residential HVAC to no avail. She’s unusual like that when it comes to us helping her out. So Mike was telling me that he thought the heat pump had finally died however mom wasn’t doing anything about it. That meant a long trip to see mom plus get this thing done. There was no way my mom would go through the Summer without a working air conditioner. I called the local HVAC contractor plus made an appointment for a Tuesday. I showed up on a Tuesday plus Mike and I went together to talk with the HVAC professionals. Looks like mom will be getting a small, ductless multi split system as the HVAC duct in his house is no good either. But ductless heat pumps are so awesome plus she’ll have an air conditioner.
